I noticed 6 broad categories that many of these images fell under. I create these categories not to reduce the image events and people to simple tags, but to recognize how photojournalism does this on its own due to the nature of selecting and publishing a select few photos to represent extremely complicated situations for viewers.
By viewing the images in their respective categories, it's possible to also discern patterns in how the events are represented. How do these patterns corroborate with or perpetuate public myths / misconceptions? Or do they surprise us? And who or what falls under which category?
